Deli(cate) LinuxMy thanks to "LM" for informing me of a new lightweight Linux, Deli(cate) Linux, that replaces the now-defunct DeLi Linux for ultra-lightweight computers. According to their web site:
DeLi(cate) is a fork of DeLi Linux 0.8 targeted at very old and low RAM computers. It's developed independently of DeLi's successor ConnochaetOS. It's based on the 2.4 series kernel and uClibc to minimize the resource utilization. ... Minimum requirements: CPU : i386 (or compatible) RAM : 8MB (console only) / 14MB (with GUI) HDD : 300MB Recommended configuration: CPU : Pentium MMX 233MHz (up to Pentium III) RAM : 64MB HDD : 4GB This is good news, because there are too few current Linux distros that will work on really old PCs. (Damn Small Linux seems to be frozen at its 2008 release.) I'm glad to see that someone else is carrying on the DeLi project. I've removed DeLi from the links page, and added Deli(cate) and ConnochaetOS. I've also added Deli(cate) to the Big Board -- ConnochaetOS was already there. |
